About Us
We are a private practice specializing in comprehensive forensic mental health evaluations and treatment. Our clinical staff includes a board certified forensic psychiatrist, and a licensed clinical psychologist with specialty in adult neuropsychology and forensic psychology.
Fifth Avenue Forensics provides comprehensive evaluations for a variety of forensic cases. Our assessment process is thorough and individualized based on the referral question. We utilize our wide array of clinical skills to create a comprehensive evaluation to suit each individual's needs. We provide forensic evaluations for adults and adolescents age 16 and up.

Clinicians
Alexander Sasha Bardey, M.D.
Dr. Bardey is a board certified Forensic Psychiatrist in New York City. After graduating from Harvard College, he attended medical school at Stony Brook. He then completed a four-year residency program in Psychiatry at NYU Medical Center where he became the Deputy Director of Forensic Psychiatry. Dr. Bardey went on to become the Director of the Kendra’s Law program in Manhattan and later, the Director of Mental Health at Rikers Island. Dr. Bardey has published and lectured in the area of forensic psychiatry, malingering, and dangerousness. He currently holds teaching positions on the faculty of NYU Medical Center and New York Medical College. Dr. Bardey also maintains a private clinical practice where he treats a broad range of psychiatric disorders, as well as a private forensic practice where he provides consultations to various attorneys, prosecutor’s office and courts in the New York Tri-State area at both a state and federal level. He has served as an advisor and psychiatrist to Brooklyn’s Mental Health Court, to the Nassau County Department of Mental Health Kendra’s Law program and Mental Health Court. Dr. Bardey is currently the Director of Forensic Psychiatry for the Nassau County Department of Mental Health, Chemical Dependency and Developmental Disabilities.
In media, Dr. Bardey has been a frequent commentator on Court TV, Fox News, and NBC, as well as a technical consultant for Marc Forster’s movie STAY. He also served as a consultant for Law and Order: Criminal Intent in the past and is currently the consultant for Law and Order: Special Victims Unit. In 2012/2013, Dr. Bardey served as Co-producer and Technical Advisor for Steven Soderbergh’s last theatrical release, Side Effects. He has also appeared on A&E’s series The Killer Speaks, several episodes of CBS’s 48Hours, and has been a repeated guest on Doctor Radio on SiriusXM and on the Recovery Road radio show on WHPC radio.
Kate Termini, Psy.D.
Dr. Termini received her undergraduate degree in psychology, with a minor in criminology from Duke University. She worked for three years in the area of forensic psychology before returning to graduate school to earn her doctorate in clinical psychology, with a specialty in neuropsychology, from Yeshiva University/Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She underwent training in facilities including Bellevue Hospital Center, the Manhattan Campus of the Veteran's Affairs Hospital, and NYU Medical Center. She completed her clinical psychology internship, with a specialty in neuropsychology, at North Shore University Hospital/Long Island Jewish Health System. She is a licensed clinical psychologist in the state of New York and is currently pursuing board certification in clinical neuropsychology. She has extensive training in neuropsychological assessment, as well as psychological assessment, in both the forensic and clinical realms. She serves as a consultant and psychologist to Brooklyn’s Mental Health Court. She is an adjunct faculty member at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology as an instructor of clinical assessment to doctoral students. She has also appeared on the Discovery ID series' Six Degree of Murder and The Deadliest Decade.
Amy DeSimon, LMHC
Amy DeSimon is a forensic mitigation specialist and psychotherapist. She is a licensed mental health counselor in the State of New York since January of 2021. She earned a master’s degree from the Forensic Mental Health Counseling program at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, where she also received her undergraduate degree in humanities and justice, with a minor in psychology. She completed undergraduate internships at the Monroe County District Attorney's office and at the New York State Supreme Court in Queens. During her graduate studies, she spent a summer volunteering at various psychiatric hospitals and mental health facilities in Sri Lanka, to gain insight into Eastern mental health practices. Ms. DeSimon completed a graduate externship at Fifth Avenue Forensics in 2018, and in 2019, she joined the team as a clinical assistant where under the supervision of Drs. Bardey and Termini she assisted in forensic evaluations and civil assessments on both the state and federal levels. As a forensic mitigation specialist, she works to assist attorneys by conducting mitigation evaluations and forensic investigations at pre-pleading, pre-adjudication and sentencing stages with the purpose of providing objective and effective reports with recommendations on dispositional issues based on bio-psycho-social factors. She has been providing individual psychotherapy since 2020 and recently obtained certification as a clinical trauma specialist. She provides trauma-informed psychotherapy for individuals and families involved in the criminal justice system and individuals seeking psychological damages in civil litigation.
Miranda Rosenberg, Psy.D.
Dr. Miranda Rosenberg is a New York State licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in evidence-based clinical and forensic assessments. She obtained her doctorate degree in clinical psychology from Yeshiva University/Albert Einstein College of Medicine and completed her internship with a specialty in neuropsychology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Dr. Rosenberg has received extensive training in clinical, forensic, and neuropsychological assessment evaluations in academic medical centers across New York City, including at New York Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical College, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, and NYC Health + Hospitals/Gouverneur. Before joining Fifth Avenue Forensics, Dr. Rosenberg worked in the Forensic Psychiatry Evaluation Court Clinic under NYC Health + Hospitals/ Correctional Health Services performing court-ordered psychological evaluations. Dr. Rosenberg’s research is focused on mental illness in the criminal justice system and alternatives to incarceration for individuals with severe mental illness.
